Biore UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 sunscreen lotion (★★)

Quick Summary:

Date Tested: 8/22/2025

In this Biore UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 sunscreen lotion review, I find a low performing SPF 50 sunscreen. Thank you once again for the sample, Zoe!

In my slew of Japanese sunscreen testing as of late, I noticed this “Weightless Moisturizer” from Biore. I honestly thought it was one of the same Aqua Rich products I had tested in the past, but it was actually something new. Would it test as poorly as the other products from the same lineup? I was curious, intrigued, excited even. Alas, the results were just as mediocre as everything else from the Aqua Rich line. I also realized the Allie, and Jergen’s brand, is under the Kao umbrella – who knew!?

The Biore UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 sunscreen lotion is a chemical sunscreen formula which contains Avobenzone at 3.0%, Homosalate at 10.0%, Octisalate at 5.0%, and Octocrylene 5.0%. It seems this formulation is meant to be marketed to the United States as it doesn’t contain many of the exotic UV filters the Aqua Rich products typically incorporate into it’s formula. Instead, it uses the typical cocktail of chemical filters commonly included in U.S. FDA approved formulations.

The Biore UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 reduced 73.82% of irradiated UVA, 68.10% UVB, and 73.47% of total UVI. If you are looking for a lower performing SPF 30, this would likely fit the bill.

Prepared slide BEFORE testing

The Biore UV Aqua Rich Weightless Moisturizer SPF 50 sunscreen lotion had some thinning towards the center of the slide, but not terrible. The speckled appearance seemed to be from air bubbles? Unsure.

At this point, If you’re looking for strong UV protection, I would just stay away from the Aqua Rich product lineup.
