Quick Summary:
Date Tested: 06/12/2022
I do like testing sunscreen from companies I have never heard of as I approach the procedure with a blank state. Is the product good? Bad? Mediocre? On first impressions of said sunscreen, I thought oh AUSTRALIAN! MUST BE CROCODILE GOOD.
This sunscreen is a physical (mineral) based formulation containing equal amounts of both Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. It is priced right at just around $10, and its tube design looks nice. Makes me happy.
The Australian Gold SPF 50 mineral lotion lived up to my crocodile protection impressions by reducing 95.91% of the UVI, 96.12% of emitted UVA, and 92.37% of the radiated UVB. This is solid protection coming from an SPF50! I am impressed.

Prepared slide ready for testing
The Australian Gold SPF 50 spread nice and consistent. A nice even gradient can be seen. This is what I like to see when preparing the sunscreen slide sample.
Below are the results from 2 hours of testing in my UV testing station.
Australian Gold SPF50 UV blocking test results
Ultraviolet light quick reference:
UVA: The Ultraviolet wavelength from 315nm – 400nm. The “Aging UV light” – Causes wrinkles.
UVB: The Ultraviolet wavelength from 280nm – 315nm. The “Bad UV light” – Causes skin cancer.
UVI: The global sun UV index. The more a sunscreen can reduce the level of UVI, the better.
UV test results:
Ultraviolet sensor readings:
Before Sunscreen | After Sunscreen | % UV Blocked | |
TEMP | 86.7 | 87.09 | |
UVA | 25116 | 975.75 | 96.12% |
UVB | 1265 | 96.5 | 92.37% |
UVI | 14.7 | .60 | 95.91% |
Testing notes:
A new contender for me, but one that performed very well despite a lower SPF 50 rating. Australian? CHECK! GOLD? CHECK. BOTANICAL? CHECK.
I recommend it.
